~About the Home Page ~

~ The Hannah Center opened the door of our home for our very first resident in June of 1993. What a wonderfully exciting time!

~ Later that summer, our friends David and Mary were scheduled to have their fifth child, a girl, who had medical issues as a pre-born, but was doing very well. This beautiful little girl was born on July 23, 1993. Although perfect and healthy, she contracted an infection at birth.

~ Elizabeth Clare fought very hard, but finally succumbed on August 1, 1993. Although incredibly sad, her parents' wish was for her to be remembered by a work of art here at Hannah Center.

~ We were aware of the work of Robert Duncan, and believe that "Mother and Son" embodies the role of a mother with her child; protecting and nurturing, while introducing her baby to the world outside of her arms.

~ Elizabeth Clare's father made a beautiful, custom oak frame for the large print of "Mother and Son" which hangs prominently in the living room of the Hannah Center. It seems every visitor exclaims over this rendition of maternal love, and we then relate how this came to be. Elizabeth will never be forgotten.

~ We are most grateful to Robert Duncan Studios, who have graciously consented to the use of this image. Our hope is that every child will know the love of mother and father and family.
